About linkoflinks
linkoflinks is a live galaxy of the world's websites. Every dot you see is a real website, at the very moment it gets or renews its security certificate.
How it works
Every time a website gets the certificate that makes its address start with https, the certificate is written into public, tamper-proof logs called Certificate Transparency logs. linkoflinks reads about fifty of these logs around the clock and turns each new entry into a pulse in the galaxy.
- Born (amber stars): an address linkoflinks has never seen before, often a website that has just come to life. While linkoflinks is still learning the internet, Born means new to linkoflinks.
- Alive (blue dots): a known website renewing its certificate, a sign it is still alive and cared for.
- The calm base layer: the world's most visited websites, from the public Tranco ranking.
What you can do
- Watch the internet breathe, zoom in, and tap any site to see what it is and where it is.
- Colour the galaxy by activity, by the kind of site, or by region on a world map.
- Search, or type an address to see if it is alive, registered or still free.
- Open sites safely: new and unknown sites are checked with Google Web Risk and a malware list first.
- Report anything harmful with one tap.
Free, no login, no tracking
linkoflinks needs no account, sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising trackers. It is paid for by clearly labelled sponsored pulses and by people who choose to support it, never by interrupting ads.
Honest limits
- The kind of site is a best guess from its name.
- Region shows where a site is hosted, which is not always where its owner lives.
- The screen shows a share of the live stream so it stays readable; the counters show the full scale.
